Puppy & Kitten Visits

Give your new pet the best start in life.

Protecting your best friend

One of the most important things you can do to give your pet a long and healthy life is to ensure that he or she is vaccinated against common diseases.  Your pet's mother gave your pet immunity from disease for the first few weeks of existence by providing disease-fighting antibodies in her milk.  After that period it's up to you to provide that protection!

How do vaccines work?

Vaccines contain small quantities of altered or "killed" viruses, bacteria, or other disease-causing organisms.  When administered, they stimulate your pet's immune system to produce disease-fighting cells and proteins (antibodies) to protect against disease.

When should my puppy or kitten be vaccinated?

The immunity that a puppy or kitten is given by its mother diminishes between 6-8 weeks of age.  This is when we begin the initial vaccinations, which will be repeated every 3-4 weeks until the puppy is 4 months old.  If there is too long of an interval between vaccinations we may have to give additional boosters.

Puppy & kitten visits are more than just vaccines!

These visits are a great time to discuss any training problems and common puppy questions and concerns.  We discuss how to help your puppy grow up to be confident, happy, and healthy.

Frequent visits help socialize your new family member

We make visits as pleasant as possible for your pet by distracting them with food, and attention and making our exam room environment as relaxing as possible for your furry friend.  When your pet has good experiences when traveling in the car and at our clinic, they are less likely to be fearful of us when they are adults.
